DevLearn conducted a formative market systems assessment for DREAMS (Delivering Resilient Enterprises and Market Systems for Refugees), a 5-year, IKEA Foundation-funded consortium programme supporting the local market and micro-entrepreneurship development in refugee camps in Dollo Ado.
The programme combines the Market Systems Development and Graduation Approaches to achieve maximum impact. The Graduation Approach provides intensive support to the most vulnerable households to achieve self-reliance, and the MSD Approach promotes the inclusion of ‘graduates’ in the market in a sustainable and scalable manner.
DevLearn conducted an in-depth analysis of constraints and opportunities for the inclusion of refugees and host communities in targeted livestock, agricultural, and financial market systems. In line with the program’s targets, the study focused on identifying opportunities for refugee women. Based on these findings, DevLearn and DREAMS consortium partners developed intervention concepts during a 3-day intervention workshop. These will be implemented by the DREAMS programme.
