Investing in Women (IW) is an initiative of the Australian Government to catalyse inclusive economic growth through women’s economic empowerment in Southeast Asia.
Among the aims of IW is to increase impact investments into women-owned and -led small- and medium-sized enterprises (women’s SMEs) in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam.
DevLearn conducted several monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) activities for IW, which explored:
- How impact investments affected the businesses and lives of women entrepreneurs and business leaders
- How impact investor partners have adopted gender lens investing into their investments, organisation, and processes
- How gender lens investing can best be promoted in Southeast Asia by initiatives like IW and other market actors, and what challenges and opportunities exist for GLI in the region.
With DevLearn’s support, IW has been able to demonstrate the progress made by the program and its partners and document valuable learnings that can inform future efforts to close the credit gap for women’s SMEs in the region.
